SUMMER LIBRARY READING PROGRAM

The Summer Library Reading Program assists children in maintaining their reading skills over the summer, encourages an appreciation of the library and its resources and fosters a life-long love of reading and learning.

The 2011 Summer Library Reading Program, "One World, Many Stories", Performer Series brings two talented performers to Delaware's public libraries, Diane Macklin, Storyteller, and Tom Sieling, Singer, Guitarist, Banjoist. Diane's stories highlight the humor of tricksters, the wisdom of elders, and the powers of cleverness which are dynamic and interactive. Tom, a widely acclaimed singer and string instrumentalist, has performed nationally for over 20 years.  His show incorporates a variety of instruments that he uses to accompany himself.  Both fun packed shows invite full audience participation and his music brings smiles and laughter to all, regardless of age.

In 2011, SLRP programming for adults & teens are also available. The Center for the Book will be supporting library programming geared toward "Novel Destinations" for adults & for teens called "You Are Here".

Delaware is a member of the Collaborative Summer Library Program, a consortium of state libraries that work together to produce high-quality, low-cost programs and materials to libraries in their states.
