About EveryoneOn

  • The message? “Do one thing better online.” By using the EveryoneOn website, one can find free computer training in their area.
  • The goal? Promote digital opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, income, geography, or education.
  • The target audience? 23+ year old adults with limited or no online experience. Individuals and families are encouraged to access free community resources and training through their local public library.

The EveryoneOn campaign represents a collaboration between libraries around the country, Connect2Compete (C2C), the American Library Association, the Public Library Association, the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), OCLC, the Ad Council, and many private corporations.

First Steps

Go to Connect2Compete’s site for an overview of EveryoneOn. Here you will:

  • Find instructions for updating the C2C Training Locator database with details about the resources your library provides. Update your existing library listing, or add your library if it is not already a part of the database. Updates are reflected on the EveryoneOn and Connect2Compete locator maps.
  • Review a Program Brief outlining the EveryoneOn campaign.
  • Find answers on a regularly-updated Frequently Asked Questions page.

Also, visit www.everyoneon.org to see a preview of the website that is under construction for the general public.

Campaign Kickoff on March 21, 2013

This is a multi-year effort that will build over time. There is no obligation for any library/organization to do specific activities related to the campaign on 3/21/2013. The campaign is national, and media outlets will be invited to use EveryoneOn publicity materials to promote the importance of digital literacy in local communities. On 3/21, general public services announcements (PSAs), including TV, radio, print, billboard and mobile, will be distributed to media across the country. The first launch events will be hosted by C2C in selected cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Philadelphia. You are encouraged to kick off your own local event(s) or promotions at any time.

Publicity

An EveryoneOn campaign toolkit is available now to libraries who want to participate. Additional resources will be added in the coming months, but the toolkit already includes:

  • Background information about the campaign
  • Printable posters and Web graphics
  • Tips on using the campaign materials and spreading the word about EveryoneOn, with fact sheets, social media guide, key talking points, tools for engaging the community, and more

Public service announcements are being developed that will direct people to the everyoneon.org website, a mobile text short code, and a 1-800# to help people locate free digital literacy training resources. A social media effort focused on the digital newbie is also planned and will encourage people to “like” EveryoneOn on Facebook.
